Tell Corporate Insiders: Unfair Trade Kills

Category: Campaign Update

Date: Wednesday, June 25, 2008

Toxic toys, red-leaded steel, counterfeit circuit breakers, poisoned pet food, contaminated medicine. In the past year alone, as many as 81 people have died from unsafe imports. Meanwhile, our jobs are being exported to countries without strong labor, environmental, health or consumer safety protections.

Corporate lobbyists think that the solution to the Toxic Trade Crisis is self-regulations; they think companies should be allowed to police themselves. On Wednesday, July 9th trade associations representing toxic importers in the toy, pharmaceutical, and food-marketing industries will be meeting with Bush administration officials in Washington, DC at the so called “Import Safety Summit.”

Join us to confront these toxic traders and the corporate lobbyists at the Bush-administration-backed Import Safety Summit.
